Campaigns don’t run forever, but only until they tell their story. Below are a list of retired SOPs.
Allhaven: A Mouseguard Tale
With Darkheather all but abandoned by the weasels and the growing needs of the mouse population, a small township has been built beyond the scent borders; Allhaven. A new age of frontier mice, pioneers, and explorers begins, and mystery awaited those who dared trek westward. Allhaven focused on a handful of patrollers and survivalists who sought out what anyone seeking a new beginning wants – A place to call home.
Corsair Stir-Fry
The world needs heroes. It always has, and it always will. Sometimes mortal heroes rise from the ranks of humanity, beating back the petty evils of selfishness and greed. But sometimes mortal heroes are not enough. That’s when the Exalted rise.
Corsair Stir-Fry is an anime/wuxia inspired post-apocalypse on the high seas set in the Exalted setting of The West. Players will engage in piracy, uncovering ancient secrets, revealing dark plots, and building societies.
Flavors of the Apocalypse
In the Spring of 2020, RTR demod three different versions of the rules-light indie sensation, Powered by the Apocalypse. Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) is the name associated with a game system developed by Meguey Baker and Vincent Bake for their 2010 Indie RPG Awards winning game Apocalypse World. Since then, it’s been adapted for countless systems, three of which we intend to demo this Spring as part of the Semi-Organized Play Program.
We ran mini campaigns in Monster of the Week, The Sprawl, and Urban Shadows.
Hudson and Brand
Hudson & Brand is a consulting detective agency in the style of the extravagant freelancers such as may be found in the stories of the great Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot. The agency’s main goal is to protect Londoners from macabre and devious evils prowling ever just out of sight. They pursue dark truths regarding the supernatural by researching the past, going into the field, delving into the psyche of man, and confronting the horrors of the terrible evil only hinted at in the most dark and blasphemous tomes.
In game terms, Hudson & Brand is a Call of Cthulhu Semi-Organized Campaign set in Gaslight era. It is, very loosely, a prequel of the Miskatonic Society, another SOP that takes place in the 1920s.
New Guard
Teen Titans, Young Justice, New Mutants, Young Avengers – tomorrow’s band of masked avengers are starting younger and younger. New Guard will focus on a group of these would-be-heroes through their years at Claremont Academy as they take on the most dangerous challenge of their young lives – High School.
New Guard uses the Mutants & Masterminds rule system and runs on Fridays, October to December.
Operation Galahad
Operation Galahad is the code-name for a joint operation between the Miskatonic Society, the Allied military forces, and other secret societies aligned to stand against the occult machinations of the Axis Powers during World War II.
Operation Galahad is a Call of Cthulhu Semi-Organized Campaign set in the World War II era. It is a continuation of the Miskatonic Society.
STAR WARS: Firestorm
STAR WARS: Firestorm is a five-session semi-organized play program which uses the Age of Rebellion ruleset by Fantasy Flight Games. Players take on the role of Rebel Alliance agents struggling against the tyranny of the Galactic Empire in the Peth Sector, a region of the Mid-Rim south of the Gordian Reach along the Hydian Way trade route which is anchored by the Yavin, Dathomir, and Mandalore systems.
The Contingent
Throughout history, humanity has banded together to protect their communities from imminent dangers. The Contingent crosses cultural boundaries and philosophies to bring hunters together against the dangers that lurk in the shadows and threaten to snuff out the light of civilization.
The Contingent was RTR’s longest running SOP, with an impressive 9 seasons of play
The Miskatonic Society
Located in the Dewitt House on the corner of Miskatonic Avenue and Garrison Street in Arkham, the Miskatonic Society serves as a haven for scholars of the strange and unusual. To outside observers, the Dewitt House is a large vine covered house. To members, it is a sanctuary from the outside world and a window to those things that mankind has yet to fully comprehend.
The Miskatonic Society was RTR’s first SOP, using the Call of Cthulhu ruleset and set in the 1920s. It spawned several spinoff SOPs.
The Shadow Over Mirkwood
Smaug is dead, the Necromancer was driven out by the Council of the Wise, and the orcish hordes were broken at the Battle of Five Armies. While Mirkwood is still a dangerous place full of Spiders, Wights, Trolls, Goblins, and Wicked Men, for the first time in an Age, one can breathe the air of freedom under the forest eaves. Now is the time for the free peoples of Rhovannion to reclaim the Greenwood of old.
The Shadow Over Mirkwood is a Lord of the Rings SOP, using the One Ring rule system.
Seek the Stars!
Played using the Fate Core ruleset, Seek the Stars! is a high-octane sci-fi adventure-comedy stuffed to the space-gills with hi-jinks, antics, and tomfoolery. But it’s not all fun and games! Players take the role of agents of the Space Patrol’s infamous Expeditionary Team Delta, the Systems Accord’s fourth-string exploratory team/covert-ops unit. They’re the galaxy’s last, worst hope for peace, unity, and safety.
Truetopia: Year 0
Your home in West Village is in turmoil. The faith that stood as the foundation of your society is no more. The order & stability have been replaced by worry & doubts. The community is on the verge of collapse after the first group to ever venture forth from the village and return brought with them troubling news. They learned the truth about their gods, the Elders. That truth has upended everything you know and has turned the unity and stability of your home into chaos.
Truetopia runs on Sundays, January to March. It uses the Cypher system.
