April 2022 RTR Update

Well, the first quarter did not go at all like we hoped. The COVID variant stopped our plans for in-person meetings, and we were back to virtual for everyone’s safety. Now that we are truly into the second quarter of 2022, in-person meetings seem to be an option again. Below is the current way RTR is approaching our events.

Requirements

Returning to in-person events is not without risk. Every member should weigh these risks and make the best decision for themselves. We will work to reduce that risk as much as possible through the following requirements. We’re aware these go beyond the current requirements of state and local governments.

  • Proof of Vaccination: You will be required to show proof of full vaccination against COVID at your arrival at any in-person event. Anyone without this proof will not be admitted to the event. This is a firm rule with no exceptions.
  • No Sharing: To reduce contact between members, we ask that you not share dice, pencils, notes, etc. with other members. If a GM has a physical prop for the event, they’ll bring an individual copy for each participant.
  • Masks are Encouraged: At the current time, mask mandates have all but ended. Still, we encourage anyone attending an in-person event to wear a mask, or at least bring their mask. If an event requires masks, we will note that on the Meetup page.
  • If You Feel Unwell, Stay Home: We’ve been stuck in our homes for almost 2 years now, we understand the desire to meet back in person. However, if you feel sick or unwell please do not attend an event and put other members at risk.
  • Agreement to Notify Organizers: If you test positive for COVID within a week of an event or find you had a COVID exposure within a week before the event, you agree to contact an organizer immediately. Failure to do this will result in a ban from all future in-person events.

In Person Casuals!

Deja Brew is still dear to our hearts, but not quite ready for us to return. For May, we’ll be holding a Casual Meet in person at Gamers Geekery and Tavern in Cary. More Details at this Link

Virtual SOPs

We still don’t quite have an in-person space to play, but we’re hoping to try out many of the new (and old favorites) around the Triangle in the coming months. Our SOP teams have already prepared for virtual play for at least the second and third quarters. These programs usually take months, if not a year, of prep, so it’ll be a little bit before they transition back to in-person.

Return of Try-It-Out Events

These will be a mix of in-person and virtual events, at the preference of the volunteer running the Try-It-Out. All of these events will clearly be marked as virtual or in-person, as well as any event-specific instructions.
