Thank you for joining me. Earlier\, I received a telephone call from our colleagues at the Charing Cross Primary Crime Unit. There was an incident late last night at Stonewaters Bookshop on New Row that they believe will be of interest to us. One of the booksellers\, a Mr Warwick Anderson\, was assaulted at approximately 12:30 am while rearranging a display in the bookshop’s basement. Mr Anderson\, though somewhat concussed\, managed to telephone the emergency services. The call handler sent a response team to the bookshop\, where they had to force an entry in order to render assistance. \n“Our colleagues from Charing Cross carried out a search of the premises while Mr Anderson was being seen by the attending paramedics. They found no alarms tripped and no evidence of a break-in\, nor of anything having been stolen. However\, there were obvious signs of a disturbance in the basement matching the description given to them by the victim. \n“I would like you to interview Mr Anderson to establish his recollection of events. He is awaiting you at the Cappuccino Lounge\, also on New Row. Then\, I would like you to visit the bookshop and carry out an inspection\, including an Initial Vestigium Assessment\, to determine whether this is\, indeed\, a Falcon case. One of the best tools a GM can use is Session Zero. \nA Session Zero is a game session run before a larger campaign in which you and your players talk about the upcoming campaign before you actually run it. Session Zeros are intended to get you and your players all on the same page about the game you plan to play\, and the campaign you plan to experience. Session Zeros help everyone manage their expectations about what the game is and what it is not. It helps tie the characters to one another\, to the world in which they exist\, and to the main story of the campaign. It helps everyone understand what kind of game you’ll be playing and helps define the boundaries of that game. \nAnd on the subject of boundaries\, we’ll also cover Safety Tools to incorporate into your Session Zero and gameplay that help ensure the experience is positive and enjoyable.

DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Ring! Your crew has recently docked into the Aurum 80 station where trouble is brewing. Tensions keep rising between the two gangs as everyone fights for the last bit of water\, air\, fuel\, and drugs. Meanwhile your spacecraft needs expensive repairs\, and you have a large docking fee debt you need to repay. Even worse the sector ringleader is going be arriving with plenty of union muscle to sort things out himself in a few hours. With a lot of problems and not a lot of time\, will you and your crew survive another day at the end of the universe? \nDeath in Space is a rule lite d20 system taking place in a grim sci-fi future. The game should be very easy to learn if you have ever played a d20 system before. Excerpt from the book: \n“Civilization is at its end. Slowly but steadily\, the universe contracts towards an inescapable end. The void between the stars whispers strange and portentous phrases to the unlucky. This is a game about the hard-working explorers and laborers in this universe\, and the jobs they take to survive in a war-torn stellar system where anarchy spreads and resources are scarce. Without a good aim\, and a tech-savvy mind\, they will quickly meet their DEATH IN SPACE.” \nWarnings: Drug use and violence. Potentially other things like language and body horror\, but I will send out a survey to all players for topics to avoid\, so I won’t include anything people are uncomfortable with.

They’re a great place to both catch up with old friends and reminisce about great games that came before and to meet new and interesting people and even find players/GMs for future games! \nIn the future\, we might occasionally offer an optional RPG-related workshop or roundtable\, and it’s totally alright to bring a short boardgame or card game you’d like to play\, but the Casual Meet is primarily intended as an unstructured social gathering. \nThe host business has agreed to initially waive their headcount fees for our group as we pilot this new program with them. While there’s no requirement to do so\, it would be courteous to try to buy some food and drink while you’re there\, as the GG&T offers both! \nFeel free to bring a friend\, but please try to add a +1 to your RSVP here on Meetup if you do so; we try to provide the host with as accurate a number as we can ahead of time. \nSafety and Expectations\nAs a general rule\, always respect the rules and requirements of our host establishment\, as RTR is a guest in their business! \nCurrently\, GG&T doesn’t have a requirement for masking\, but they do follow all state mandates\, so please be aware of those before any events held here. \nWe ask that our members be considerate and stay home if they are feeling ill or have other illness concerns; there’s always next time. If you have allergies\, please consider wearing a mask; you may not be sick\, but a sneeze is a sneeze! The Event Host will generally try to have a box of disposable masks available as a second resort. \nIf you find out after attending any in-person RTR event that you’ve suffered a Covid exposure\, or test positive\, please inform the Organizers ASAP\, so that they can disseminate the potential risk information to others so they can test at their own discretion. If you knowingly bring an illness to an RTR event\, you will not be welcome at future gatherings. \nFeedback and Future Events\nSpencer will be collecting feedback after the Casual Meet\, and your thoughtful response is greatly appreciated.
