We’ll discuss what’s come before and what lays ahead\, establish ground rules and etiquette for the season\, and update and/or create characters with the players for play in the game. \nWe will all start together via Jit.si videochat\, then shift into smaller groups for work on characters. Please try to come prepared to give us an “elevator pitch” about your character — a 30-45-second summary of who they are\, what they do\, what makes them unique\, etc. If it helps\, think of *Fate* aspects like a High Concept and a Trouble. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Try-It-Out of Chaosium’s newest RPG\, Rivers of London. \nPregenerated characters will be provided. We will use a combination of Roll20 for visuals and dice rolling and Jitsi for video and audio. \nIn Rivers of London: the Roleplaying Game\, players take on the roles of newly recruited members of the London Metropolitan Police Service’s special magic branch\, aka “the Folly.” You will solve mysteries\, catch criminals\, and come to grips with the “demi-monde”—those who have been irreversibly changed by magic. \n\nThe Bookshop\n“Good morning\, everyone. Thank you for joining me. Earlier\, I received a telephone call from our colleagues at the Charing Cross Primary Crime Unit. There was an incident late last night at Stonewaters Bookshop on New Row that they believe will be of interest to us. One of the booksellers\, a Mr Warwick Anderson\, was assaulted at approximately 12:30 am while rearranging a display in the bookshop’s basement. Mr Anderson\, though somewhat concussed\, managed to telephone the emergency services. The call handler sent a response team to the bookshop\, where they had to force an entry in order to render assistance. \n“Our colleagues from Charing Cross carried out a search of the premises while Mr Anderson was being seen by the attending paramedics. They found no alarms tripped and no evidence of a break-in\, nor of anything having been stolen. However\, there were obvious signs of a disturbance in the basement matching the description given to them by the victim. \n“I would like you to interview Mr Anderson to establish his recollection of events. He is awaiting you at the Cappuccino Lounge\, also on New Row. Then\, I would like you to visit the bookshop and carry out an inspection\, including an Initial Vestigium Assessment\, to determine whether this is\, indeed\, a Falcon case. Ms Saffron Jackson\, the store’s manager\, will be on hand to escort you. The bookshop usually opens at 11:00 am on a Sunday\, and\, by all accounts\, Ms Jackson is keen to resume business at the earliest possible convenience. \n“Report back here to me once you have completed your initial inquiries. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Try-It-Out of Chaosium’s newest RPG\, Rivers of London. \nPregenerated characters will be provided. We will use a combination of Roll20 for visuals and dice rolling and Jitsi for video and audio. \nIn Rivers of London: the Roleplaying Game\, players take on the roles of newly recruited members of the London Metropolitan Police Service’s special magic branch\, aka “the Folly.” You will solve mysteries\, catch criminals\, and come to grips with the “demi-monde”—those who have been irreversibly changed by magic. \n\nThe Bookshop\n“Good morning\, everyone. Thank you for joining me. Earlier\, I received a telephone call from our colleagues at the Charing Cross Primary Crime Unit. There was an incident late last night at Stonewaters Bookshop on New Row that they believe will be of interest to us. One of the booksellers\, a Mr Warwick Anderson\, was assaulted at approximately 12:30 am while rearranging a display in the bookshop’s basement. Mr Anderson\, though somewhat concussed\, managed to telephone the emergency services. The call handler sent a response team to the bookshop\, where they had to force an entry in order to render assistance. \n“Our colleagues from Charing Cross carried out a search of the premises while Mr Anderson was being seen by the attending paramedics. They found no alarms tripped and no evidence of a break-in\, nor of anything having been stolen. However\, there were obvious signs of a disturbance in the basement matching the description given to them by the victim. \n“I would like you to interview Mr Anderson to establish his recollection of events. He is awaiting you at the Cappuccino Lounge\, also on New Row. Then\, I would like you to visit the bookshop and carry out an inspection\, including an Initial Vestigium Assessment\, to determine whether this is\, indeed\, a Falcon case. Ms Saffron Jackson\, the store’s manager\, will be on hand to escort you. The bookshop usually opens at 11:00 am on a Sunday\, and\, by all accounts\, Ms Jackson is keen to resume business at the earliest possible convenience. \n“Report back here to me once you have completed your initial inquiries. I await your findings with interest.”

Session Zeros help everyone manage their expectations about what the game is and what it is not. It helps tie the characters to one another\, to the world in which they exist\, and to the main story of the campaign. It helps everyone understand what kind of game you’ll be playing and helps define the boundaries of that game. \nAnd on the subject of boundaries\, we’ll also cover Safety Tools to incorporate into your Session Zero and gameplay that help ensure the experience is positive and enjoyable.

DESCRIPTION:RTR member Spencer has worked with Lance at the Gamers Geekery & Tavern in Cary to bring back RTR’s beloved Casual Meets. Currently\, the plan is to host one every 1st and 3rd week each month! \nGeneral Overview\nRTR Casual Meets have a long and storied history as places where Triangle-area gamers can gather for casual conversation and fellowship. They’re a great place to both catch up with old friends and reminisce about great games that came before and to meet new and interesting people and even find players/GMs for future games! \nIn the future\, we might occasionally offer an optional RPG-related workshop or roundtable\, and it’s totally alright to bring a short boardgame or card game you’d like to play\, but the Casual Meet is primarily intended as an unstructured social gathering. \nFeel free to bring a friend\, but please try to add a +1 to your RSVP here on Meetup if you do so; we try to provide the host with as accurate a number as we can ahead of time. \nEvent Fee\nAn event fee of $2.50 is charged to attendees by Gamers Geekery & Tavern. Currently\, this fee is waived on Tuesdays through the summer (So\, not applicable to this event). If this is a barrier of entry for you\, please contact Spencer through Meetups\, or on Discord @Spoons#1000. Spencer has agreed to handle the fee for individuals needing such accommodations. \nSafety and Expectations\nAs a general rule\, always respect the rules and requirements of our host establishment\, as RTR is a guest in their business! \nCurrent RTR policy is that all members attending in-person events need to show physical or digital proof of vaccination in order to participate. They’re a great place to both catch up with old friends and reminisce about great games that came before and to meet new and interesting people and even find players/GMs for future games! \nIn the future\, we might occasionally offer an optional RPG-related workshop or roundtable\, and it’s totally alright to bring a short boardgame or card game you’d like to play\, but the Casual Meet is primarily intended as an unstructured social gathering. \nFeel free to bring a friend\, but please try to add a +1 to your RSVP here on Meetup if you do so; we try to provide the host with as accurate a number as we can ahead of time. \nEvent Fee\nAn event fee of $2.50 is charged to attendees by Gamers Geekery & Tavern. Currently\, this fee is waived on Tuesdays through the summer (So\, not applicable to this event). If this is a barrier of entry for you\, please contact Spencer through Meetups\, or on Discord @Spoons#1000. Spencer has agreed to handle the fee for individuals needing such accommodations. \nSafety and Expectations\nAs a general rule\, always respect the rules and requirements of our host establishment\, as RTR is a guest in their business! \nCurrent RTR policy is that all members attending in-person events need to show physical or digital proof of vaccination in order to participate.
